Now we announce a fruitful and meaningful news of Veterianry Medicine & Biologicals Division(VMBD).
Dr Yang, Dongkun, a Senior Researcher got from a mail from OIE Review for accepting his recent research review with Dr Joo, Yiseok and Dr Na, Jinju.
The paper named as " Impact of the climate change to animal diseases in Korea" It dealt the status and change of Mosquito carrying diseases by global warming. It will be published a Special Issue of OIE on Climate Change
Summary of paper follows as: Arthropod-borne viral agents such as JEV, AKAV, AIV and CHUV are mainly transmitted through a vector such as Culex spp. and Culicoides spp. in the field. The rise of temperature in Korea will be provided a more chance to vectors which transmit the viruses into the domestic animals. First, since several JEV genotypes are reported in Southeast Asia including China, the different genotype which spread across Asia may be found in the future according to ecological changes of Korea Peninsular. Second, the activity of vector-born viruses which have been circulated at every five-year intervals in cattle may be shown a brief period. Another possibility is that the climate change may increase the occurrence of JEV, AKAV, AIV and CHUV infections and IBAV and BEFV infections, which did not occur recently in Korea, also may recur in cattle.
