During the last few years in Korea, bovine brucellosis, an intracellular bacterial infection by Brucella abortus has became a serious animal health problem in Korea. Due to the drastic increase in the number of brucellosis cases, from 153 farms (665 cattle) in 2000 to 4,498 farms (16,109 cattle) in 2006, there is a need for the correct understanding of the disease pattern. This study was aimed at describing the spatial and temporal distribution of the risk of bovine brucellosis in Korea from 2000 to 2006, and identifying risk factors related to the incidences of the disease.
