The director of Veterinary Epidemiology Division, Sang Jin Lee of the NVRQS was in Ireland from 2-6 April 2007 to exchange information on epidemiological investigation and disease control procedures, and status of major livestock diseases in both counties.
The trip included visits to the Department of agriculture & food (DAF) Veterinary Service, District Veterinary Office (DVO) of Ennis and Centre of veterinary epidemiology risk analysis at University College Dublin, where there were discussions on epidemiology and control of livestock diseases and presentation on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 in the Republic of Korea.
The NVRQS hopes to continue collaborative efforts with the Veterinary Services of Ireland, which in the past has included designation of Dr Simon More, the head Centre of veterinary epidemiology risk analysis, as an honorary scientist of NVRQS.
