On August 13th, Dr. Dae-Young Kim, as a guest speaker who is an assistant professor of Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (VMDL) at University of Missouri and pathologist accredited by ACVP, was invited to the Pathology Division.
He presented two subjects : "West Nile Virus (WNV) Infection and Lymphohistiocytic proliferative Syndrome (LHPS) in American Alligators" and "VMDL at the University of Missouri-Columbia".
Dr. Kim introduced his experiences of WNV and case report of american alligators in Louisiana to us. A new terminology, LHPS, was suggested and it could be caused by WNV infection. And his diagnostic laboratory system at the university of Missouri-Columbia was presented.
