National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service (NVRQS) issued “Collection of Diagnostic Cases on the Avian Diseases” that was authored by research scientists in the Avian Disease Division, NVRQS. This book is composed of a total of 35 diagnostic cases, including 25 chicken cases, 4 duck cases, 3 pet bird cases, and 3 wild bird cases, that were submitted to the Avian Disease Division between 2003 and 2005. This book also includes an appendix, “Basics of Avian Disease Diagnosis,” providing the information on the basic skills for diagnosing avian diseases. The information pertaining to chicken diseases were organized according to causative agents, and other birds’ disease information represents their most common cases. All the information was supplemented by color pictures to help readers become familiar with typical lesions of each disease.
This book is intended for veterinarians and other related workers involved in avian disease control who may frequently face the diseases included in this book. NVRQS Director General Dr. Mun-Il Kang wrote in the foreword that he hoped this book would be a good guide for veterinary workers involved in diagnosis and control of avian diseases.
It is expected that many veterinary workers will make good use of this book in doing their work in the field of avian diseases since this book provides the information on most of the diseases that recently diagnosed in our country.
