The largest-scale transport mission ever to exchange animals between Seoul Grand Park and Thailand's Samut Prakan Crocodile Farm and Zoo will take place on this January 24~25, 2008.
These animals are worth about 2.2 billion won and weigh 80 tons in total.
These two zoos agreed on the exchange last March in an effort to preserve wild animals and secure rare species.
A total of 189 animals that Seoul Grand Park will be sending include pumas, Korean gray wolves and Siberian tigers. The animals from Thailand include mongooses, southern tamanduas, veiled chameleons and the world's largest and heaviest anaconda.
"The transportation will be the biggest effort in the world. We are sending animals of which we have many, and bringing new and rare ones that we don't have,'' a park official said.
Jungbu regional office of National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service(NVRQS) is preparing all the necessary procedures to conduct a quarantine inspection of exchanging animals.
