Dr. Sugiura who had been involved in beef trade negotiation with U.S made a presentation on BSE risk assessment experience and assessment models under the title of 'Risk Assessment of BSE(bovine spongiform encephalopathy) in Japan'. Dr. Kamakawa, director of risk analysis division, Animal Quarantine Service, MAFF, Japan, delivered a case of Rabies risk assessment entitled 'Risk Assessment of Animal Disease through imported livestock and livestock products'.
This Seminar gave a good opportunity to share the experience on animal disease risk assessment with Japan, especially at this point of time when natonal concerns on risk assessment of animal disease through imported livestock and livestock products are increasing as beef trade negotiations are going on with U.S.
