Mycobacterium bovis is main causal bacilli of bovine tuberculosis, which has the broadest host range containing human among M. tuberculosis complex. The individual infected with M. bovis has been officially and usually detected by skin test in animal, which calculated the skin reaction due to delayed-type hypersensitivity to purified protein derivative from M. bovis culture filtrate protein. In addition to skin test, serologic diagnosis of tuberculosis has been developed as ancillary diagnosis of tuberculosis, especially detection of late stage tuberculosis, which is important to prevent the transfer of tuberculosis. It has known that the culture filtrate protein of M. bovis has B cell antigens as well as T cell antigens. We search B cell antigens from M. bovis culture filtrate protein by the state-of-the-art proteomic analysis. We found several immunogenic proteins in culture filtrate proteins of M. bovis. Theser proteins could be useful for the serologic diagnosis of tuberculosis. Application for this patent is pending.
